Day 137: Color at Night … Color in the Day

I will admit I did not work hard for today’s bird photograph. I was too darned tired after staying up most of the night photographing the great northern lights display. Thus, I was extremely happy when this purple finch flew into the yard and posed for today’s photograph. I hoped you enjoy today’s color … from the night and day.

Link to my other blog, Lake Superior Waves if you wish to see more Northern Lights photos from last night. I enjoyed three hours on Boulder Lake in northern Minnesota.

Day 121: Morning Merganser Reflections (photos)

Lake Superior was dead calm this morning, which is an unusual occurrence. The next out of the ordinary event was a common merganser and red-necked grebe becoming swimming partners. This dynamic duo made for a different, but fun photo op! Thus, morning reflections! I’ve also included two other photos from my morning outing.

Day 120: Golden Hour Warblers

Yippee! Spring must finally be here. The warblers are back to the northwoods. For the moment we will all agree to ignore the remaining ice in Lake Superior and enjoy the flashes of color one may find now in the wetlands and forest. This morning I visited Hartley Nature Center and found tons of warblers having a morning bug breakfast. Fun time!
