Day 032: Mechanical Bird Tail!

Although I captured some photos of crows and magpies today … my normal subjects deep in the Winter time Rockies, I decided to try something a bit different for today’s bird photo, and a bit abstract. Thus, I waited till a few minutes after sunset and took photographs for about one half hour of jet contrails … mechanical birds … their tails (or contrails)! I’ll have to try this again someday when I’m on the Great Plains. A flat landscape seems to work better than mountains for capturing this idea, but it was still a fun photoshoot.

Day 031: Pine Magpie

A huge storm was coming down the valley just before I was lucky enough to spot this magpie about an hour before sunset. From the top of a huge snowbank I could just capture the magpie, much of the pine tree and a small mountain in the background.

Day 030: Mr. Crow is Back!

But, I’m not going to get in trouble … hey loddy … loddy, Mr. Crow is back!

As noted, I am in the midst of 21 Days of Crows with a magpie thrown in occasionally. Birds are slim pickings up high in the Rockies in the middle of Winter. Thus, today’s crow … and a pinecone!
