365 Days of Birds Index / Contents

Today is my 65th day! Thus I am well started upon this year long effort. Now that there are a reasonable number of photos, it is time to add a index / table of contents organized by bird species. I will update this file often. The index is permanently housed on my other blog, NorthStarNerd.org which more easily permits the uploading of files.

Day 075: Egrets Gone Wild!

I’m down in Florida working on the spring break new hit TV series, Egrets Gone Wild! Here are a few exciting still photographs which show both a “great egret” and two “snowy egrets” partying to excess in the Florida sunshine. While some of you may believe these altercations were over a favorite fishing hole, this video producer knows better!

With respect to bird identification, the two links given above point to the “All About Birds” web site from Cornell University. This web site is an excellent resource for the online birder.

And now … Egrets Gone Wild

Day 074: Hawk Attack!

The birds were feisty shortly after dawn this morning. The food chain and territorial claims were being staked out by the birds of prey. In the course of thirty minutes I saw:

  • A bald eagle attack an osprey
  • A red-shouldered hawk attack a crow (twice)
  • Two red-shouldered hawks attack each other (twice)

I won’t even comment about all the small birds that were squabbling. They birds reminded me of my grandkids when they have an animated discussion about toys!  🙂

Pay attention to the entire photos when the two hawks are battling. You will see their shadows!

Get out of my territory!
