Wildlife Habitat: Dead vs Alive

Browse on over to my main blog, NorthStarNerd.Org. I have a post with multiple photos on the subject of wildlife habitat. Here is a photo of my own northern Minnesota home. Note how my yard is a combination of woods, long grasses and perennials. Please give some consideration before you have the perfectly manicured lawn maintained with tons of fertilizer.

Day 040: Sunrise Sonata

Music at sunrise! This thrush (hermit?) was singing his head off at dawn this morning, and I enjoyed the concert. Little did he know what danger lurked beneath the ponds of Heathrow this morning! Take a look at the claw that is jumping out of the water to attack the Snowy Egret. Reflections are wonderful!

Day 039: Herons on the Hunt!

Well … actually a Little Blue Heron and a Snowy Egret, but the alliteration sounds better with the word “heron”. I love the intensity of each bird’s eyes. Perhaps the fish wish they were a bit less focused on the hunt!
