Day 279: Sax-Zim Bog Snow Bunting

The winter birds are beginning to arrive in Sax-Zim Bog. My visit this morning was to try and find some owls, and snow buntings. While the owls made themselves scarce, I did find plenty of snow buntings. However, they are so skittish that getting a photograph is extremely difficult. In addition, while looking skyward for owls I did capture this ruffed grouse.

Days 269 to 271: Late Migrant Birds of the Northwoods

Most birds have gone south, leaving the northwoods strangely quiet. Finding a bird to photograph for this 365 day photography project is becoming increasingly difficult as the onset of winter approaches. However, following the basics of finding food and water still is the method of success. Here are some photo captures from the last few days.

Sax-Zim Bog Addendum: Sandhill Crane Cleared for Take-Off

As noted on day #183, I visited the Sax-Zim Bog last week on my 1/2 year anniversary for this project. While in the bog I captured this sandhill crane during the take-off process. It took me a few days to make a collage out of the photos. Now posted here!
