Texas Hill Country Biking, Birding and Boozing!

Scored the trifecta … biking, birding and boozing! The weather has been perfect since Molly and I arrived in the Hill Country. Yesterday I cycled 31 miles and my camera was always present. One stop was the Chisholm Trail Winery where we had a nice cool glass of Pinot Grigio! As much as a second glass of vino might have tasted wunderbar (or even a third), one is our limit when on the bicycle. For those of you who live in the Minneapolis / St. Paul area (I don’t), there is a monthly beer and birds get together!!!

While leaving the winery I saw this Crested Caracara taking supper home to the spouse!

In the morning, I bicycled over to Lady Bird Johnson Park and hiked along Live Oak Creek which is where I found these birds, and of course … Bluebonnets!

Texas Two Steppin Birds!

Molly and I continue to bike and bird across Texas. We have now finished the Hill Country and are starting to bike NE towards the Ozark Mountains. Here are a few last photos from the Hill Country where “Two Steppin” birds are not the only ones to make music!

Biking the Texas Blues!

Yes … we are seeing the Texas Blues! Molly and I are bicycle touring through Texas, the Ozarks, and finally finishing up along the Missouri River. Right now we are working our way through the Texas Hill Country, and singing the Texas Blues! The birds are fantastic, but they are just one part of the “blues” for this is Blue Bonnet season. The roadsides are an explosion of color from all the different wildflowers, but particularly Texas Blue Bonnets. Over the past five days we have cycled 231 miles … here is our tale of blue! (see images).

If you would like to read more about are actual bike touring experience which will see us ride 1,500+ miles following the spring north, follow these links:
