This morning shortly after sunrise I followed in the footsteps of the great Wisconsin DNR guys, Nick Anich and Ryan Brady. While I know Ryan, I have never had the pleasure of meeting Nick, but today he provided me some fantastic birding … Cuckoo Quest 2022. A few days ago in the field while working on a grasslands birding survey, Nick noted six different locations with Black-Billed Cuckoos. On my fifth stop following Nick’s path I successfully completed my quest. I had not a cuckoo in several years, but thanks to Nick’s work the drive over from the Duluth area to Bayfield County was very worthwhile. Thanks Nick!
