Hawaii Big Island Nanawale Bay Surf

We are in Hawaii! The big island (Hawaii) has given us a huge hello. On the eastern side of the island heavy surf warnings were in effect till yesterday morning. Nanawale Bay is only 20 minutes from our guest house near Pahoa. The waves were pounding the shores yesterday afternoon (video links for email subscribers: one | two). I promise more about birds and our fantastic guest house in future posts!

  1. Gorgeous giant rollers 💙💚💙💚 Love how powerful waves hitting rocks blow up, looking like blow holes. Fabulous!

  2. Too bad you traveled all the way to Hawaii only to have snow … on top of Mauna Kea! Fun! Also keep your eye out for the Red-Crested Cardinal. If there’s ever been evidence of Cardinals mating with Blue Jays, it’s the Red Crested Cardinal in Hawaii.
