Iceland Puffin Power Post #5: Dens & Burrows

As noted in Icelandic Puffin Post #1, I visited the unique puffin colony (Hafnarhólmi) in remote northern Iceland which may be reached by car (boat trip not required) and walking out onto the headland via an elevated boardwalk. This post has photographs focused upon “Dens & Burrows. I also have information at the end of this post about the fantastic AirBnB farmhouse at which I stayed which is a 50 minute drive from Hafnarhólmi, and also near the town of Egilsstaðir, Iceland (and its airport).

This is the final post in my Iceland Puffin Series

Puffins at their Dens & Burrows

As the final part of my puffin series, I enthusiastically recommend staying at the Hallfreðarstaðir Apartments. The owner, Tinna has lovingly renovated her grandparents farm into two apartments which are available for rent. She also lives on the farm. The farm looks out over a small stream, grasslands, and then a snow covered mountain range. It is 25 minutes from the town of Egilsstaðir and 55 minutes from Hafnarhólmi (puffin colony). If interested, you should read the reviews via Google Maps and AirBnB. Both have a large number of photographs and comments from previous guests.
