Day 290: Beauty Before the Storm

Our first major winter storm is bearing down on the Northland. It appears the birds must know this fact, and were busy foraging and eating all day long. Here are a series of photos from sunrise to just before sunset.

Day 284: Saying Goodbye to Bird Friends

I visited my friends, the hooded merganser couple, twice this morning. Early this morning it was cloudy, and later the sun broke through! Why the “goodbye”? Ice has now almost covered one of the ponds, and my friends … the ducks … will need to fly south fast! It was nice to finally get some sun to photograph the “hoodies”!

Day 281: First Snow!

The birds will not be able to hang around my local pond much longer. As you can see the first snow has sprinkled the ground with white!
